Community Service Learning is a method whereby participants learn and develop through active participation in thoughtfully organized service that:

is integrated into and enhances the academic curriculum of the students, or the educational components of the community service programs in which the participants are enrolled
is coordinated with and elementary school, secondary school, institution of higher education, or community service program, and with the community
helps foster civic responsibility
is conducted in and meets the needs of a community
provides structured time for the students or participants to reflect on the service experience

Services Available to You Within DCSD

 
In-Service Training Annual training available to learn how to utilize service learning as a teaching model in your classroom/program. Participation in training qualifies for both recertification and salary credit
Resource Library A variety of service-learning materials to help guide you through the process and/or generate ideas for your class/programs are available through PDC
Independent Study Credit is available for high school students wanting to complete a service project. They should speak with their school counselor
