Here are some of my favorite links. I know there are so many wonderful resources from which to browse, but these are the few I reference again and again....see what you think. All Subjects:
Rubistar
- This site allows you to create rubrics for math, art, oral projects, writing...you name it! Choose a rubric from the bank to amend or keep "as is" or start from scratch.

International Reading Association (IRA):
- Excellent resource for research based journals, books and conferences for literacy professionals. Covers k-12 literacy.
Language Rescource Guide Grades 6-12
- If you click on "reading strategies" you will find a long list of research-based effective strategies.
When you click on each one, you will find a description of what it is, what purposes it addresses, a step-by-step guide of what it looks like (with a student example) and ideas for using, adapting or differentiating it to meet your student's unique needs. This link is for the "main page", since there are many, many other excellent literacy resources you will enjoy there as well.
Reading Rants
- Lists young adolescent novels by interest and genre. Great place to help you find books for all students. Gives titles by interest with a brief summary. Nail biters to historical fiction,
Giggle Poetry
- A site with hundreds of poems to read and rate. Includes poetry theater...an alternative to reader's theater to support fluency. School poems, holiday poems etc. Check it out!
Writing Fix
- WritingFix is purposely organized around the 6 traits of writing. The 6-Trait Model is an analytic way of thinking about writing skills. It helps give developing writers a vocabulary so they can identify and talk about their personal strengths as writers. It also helps them develop a vocabulary for talking about where their writing might benefit from some further rethinking and revision. The WritingFix website is dedicated to giving students and teachers a better ability to use 6-Trait language is the classroom.
